It can be hard to incorporate meditation into your life. Whether I’m in class or at home studying, my mind is constantly thinking of what I need to be doing next. Monday’s are particularly busy days and I rarely feel relaxed and at ease by the end of the day. I have an entire week ahead of me! How can I sit still and meditate with I have a million things on my mind. Perhaps that’s the whole issue with Monday’s, though. You’re tired and grumpy and definitely not looking forward to [at least] 4 more days of feeling tired and grumpy. That’s probably why I feel like Monday is the hardest day for me to meditate. Unfortunately, I also realize that Monday is exactly the day I need to.
So, I’m coming at you with some Monday inspiration. I won’t tell you that Monday’s signify the beginning of the week of improvement or that you should feel reenergized from the weekend, because those are most certainly not my own thoughts. Instead, Monday is the day that you have to force yourself to relax. You deserve to end the day being proud of yourself for surviving another Monday. Work and school and home life can all be put on the back burner for 15 minutes of your day. Those 15 minutes should be devoted to you and your personal well-being and mental health. After all, how can you possibly get through the rest of the week if you start off feeling horrible. You shouldn’t spend your weekdays waiting for the weekend to finally have a rest. You owe it to yourself to take at least a quick meditation break at the end of the day. Acknowledge what you need to do the next day, but take a moment to appreciate what you were able to get done.
There is nothing more important to true growth than realizing that you are not the voice of the mind – you are the one who hears it.
